MINIS

CLASS DAYS : the Minis schedule varies throughout the year, based on demand. To see the available lessons in our upcoming session, please visit the studio shop!

UNIFORM CODE : please wear tights or stretchy leggings, with a leotard of your choice and leather ballet shoes. Tutus, wings, tiaras, accessories and more are very welcome! Hair should be in a secure bun or ponytail.

CURRICULUM : Minis curriculum includes basic ballet positions for the arms and feet, introductory French terms, and elementary classical ballet steps. Lessons also include exercises and games to improve balance, flexibility, gross motor skills, and more. We learn about sharing, following instructions, listening, taking turns, and work to build a love for classical music through games, singing, story time, creative movement, and fun!

PETITES

CLASS DAYS : the 2019-2020 school year includes lessons for Petites on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Petites have a minimum of 1 hour weekly, with 2 hours being strongly recommended. For those who would like to dance additional hours, select Demis classes may be available. Please speak to Ms. Casey about lessons for which your ballerina might be eligible!

UNIFORM CODE : the Petites uniform is ballet pink convertible tights, pink leather ballet shoes, a ballet pink camisole leotard without gems, skirt or other adornment. Hair in a secure ballet bun, high on the head. Closely fitted pink ballet sweaters are permitted from October to March.

CURRICULUM : the Petites study Elementary 1 Classical Legat curriculum. This includes introductory steps and their accompanying French terminology at barre, centre, and across the floor. Lessons also include stretching, introductory musical training, and performance choreography.

PERFORMANCE : Petite ballerinas are eligible for supporting roles in our semi-annual productions. Ballerinas study one part per weekly curriculum class. Clinics do not include choreography. Petite ballerinas who dance with the Junior Company are also eligible for Company Ensemble roles.

ATTENDANCE : Petite ballerinas may miss one evening of lessons per month without penalty. Additional absences for reasons of communicable illness, religious conflict, or emergency, are always excused with proper notification, however multiple monthly absences may render a ballerina ineligible for show participation. Ballerinas who are injured, or ill and not contagious, should attend class to observe. Company ballerinas who miss class due to other extra-curricular conflict (such as talent shows, sports, clubs, etc.) may be dropped to understudy for their performance roles.

DEMIS

For those who would like to dance additional hours, select Petites & Intermediate classes may be available. Please speak to Ms. Casey about lessons for which your ballerina might be eligible!

INTERMEDIATES

CLASS DAYS : the 2019-2020 school year includes lessons for Intermediates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays. Intermediates must dance a minimum of 4 hours weekly. This minimum can be met with any combination of Demis & Intermediate lessons and clinics. To inquire about the possibility of additional classes with the Juniors, please speak to Ms. Casey.

UNIFORM CODE : the Intermediate uniform is ballet pink convertible tights, pink canvas ballet shoes, a plain black camisole leotard without gems, skirt, special straps or other adornment. Hair in a secure ballet bun, high on the head. Closely fitted black ballet sweaters are permitted from October to March.

CURRICULUM : Intermediates study Intermediate 1 Classical Legat curriculum. This includes intermediate steps and their accompanying French terminology at barre, centre, across the floor, and in combinations. Lessons also include stretching and technique discussions.

PERFORMANCE : Intermediate ballerinas are eligible for supporting roles in our semi-annual productions. Ballerinas study one part per weekly curriculum class. Clinics do not include choreography. Intermediate ballerinas who dance with the Junior Company are also eligible for Company Ensemble roles, additional group dances, and select principal roles.

COMPANY DANCERS

For ALL Classes hair should be worn in a secure bun, of any style. Form fitting warmups or ballet-specific warmups are permitted in ballet pink or black.

CONTEMPORARY CLASS : black leggings or bike shorts with or without tights, nude contemporary shoes, and a black top of your choice. Ballerinas must be 16 or over to wear a bra top. 

CLASSICAL BALLET : pink tights, plain black leotard in style of your choosing, pink canvas soft shoes & pink pointe shoes. Hair in a bun. 

CHARACTER CLASS : black footed or stirrup tights, black character shoes, black 3/4 leotard, hair in a bun. Black wrap skirt or sheer pull-on skirt (mid-thigh length ideal but not required).

REHEARSAL DAYS : pink tights, plain black leotard in style of your choosing, pink canvas soft shoes, pink pointe shoes, pink and black warmups encouraged for between runs. Hair in a show bun.

CLASS ATTENDANCE POLICY : company ballerinas may miss one evening of classes per month, with advance notice to their teacher. Missing more than the allotted one class for conflicting sports/activities, social obligations, birthdays, etc. is not acceptable at the Company Level. Ballerinas who miss for this reason will need to attend a makeup class. 


REHEARSAL ATTENDANCE POLICY : the acceptable number of absences for a Company dancer will depend upon several factors including her course schedule, class attendance, class effort, the significance of her roles, and of course the reason for the absence. Absences (other than unforeseen emergencies) must be requested during auditions, for potential approval or denial. Anticipated absences will determine eligibility for roles.
